Electronics in hospitals

Contrary to popular belief, the first systematic study of this topic shows that cell phones do NOT interfere with hospital equipment. However, department store anti-theft devices near the entrances/exits messes up both pacemakers and implanted defibrillators. Exciting. Illegal.

I'm glad to hear it too. I do shut off mine the 2/3 of the time that I see the signs or remember them, but I forget another third and Mom refuses to do so. I will continue to try to remember to shut mine off, as a single study doesn't make something true, but I won't be as worried.
