"Windhaven" is one of the best border-of-sf-and-fantasy books I've read. It's typically the first book I recommend to fans too, since for some reason it's just unubiquitous enough that people are likely not to have read it.

I'm currently reading Niven's "Building Harlequin's Moon"; it's shaping up very well thus far.
