I had heard they mix in some immigration issues into it, which I find extremely disrespectful. A word for word translation is tolerable, anything other than that is not alright at all. I seriously hope this sort of action hurts the illegal immigrant movement.
It's kinda funny in a hypocritical sort of way, it looks like this sort of stunt would be illegal under Mexican law.
I guess we could view it like a remix of pop music, rather than a translation. *shrug*
Well, according to Mexican law, it's also illegal for them to sing or play any other nation's national anthem without express permission from the Secretary of the Interior.
But the thing is, I think something that holds national identity value such as the National Anthem shouldn't be trivialized by 'remixes.' And I think it would be disingenuous to call it that since it's being propped up in this political discussion by those that want to legalize millions of people who snuck into this country.
It's also that the border controversy is being labeled (by those again that have snuck in as illegals) as racism against Mexicans - which is why I think examining Mexican law is a necessary argument.
Bottom line is, it gives credibility to those arguments that illegals just came here for entitlements and not because they have any interest or loyalty to the values of the United States.
