I was thinking about adding someone as a friend, b/c I keep bumping into them on other friends' blogs, but then I realized they had a sponsored+ account. I refuse to have any ad-ers in my friendslist.

ETA: Which means I just removed two people from my friends' list. If it's you, you know why.

Unfortunately sammka's post on the topic is friendslocked, and I do not believe you are on each others' lists. In short, I am sick of ads, and LJ appeared to be a last refuge without them. I myself have been guilty of putting the ads up, but I have learned from my mistakes and would not subject my friends to such things these days.

Speaking of people who know people, how do you know iresprite anyway? And speaking of nothing whatsoever, has your other alias always been "gay sex mathematics," or is that a new thing?

1) Aren't they only visible on the journal's page?  Not that I'm arguing for them, mind...

2) Dunno!  Added him ages ago?  Met him in person at Arisia, I know that much... v. friendly.

3) New thing!  I change that thing often, excepting when I don't.

1) Here, you can play with these people's journals: og_wilbury, pablowapsi. The ads appear to be on their front page, individual post pages, and their friends page, but not YOUR friends page if you add them. I guess things could be worse.

2) He and rosefox are two people I know that everyone else knows.

3) My students have typoed "excepting" to "expecting" so often that I read yours the wrong way.

Ah. Because you have a paid account.

Paid and Permanent Accounts: You will never see ads on LiveJournal, even when viewing a Sponsored+ user's journal, as long as you're logged into the site.

If you're really curious about it, try logging out. I guess the ads only bother those of us who don't pay... It's irritating. Makes me *less* likely to get a paid account.

I only ever see Google ads, since I don't mind them.  All else get Ad-blocked.
