Wookie impersonator arrested for battery

February 3, 2007

LOS ANGELES --A man dressed as Chewbacca was arrested after police said the street performer head-butted a tour guide operator in front of Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.
...
"The lesson here is you can have the force with you," [police Lt. Paul] Vernon said. "You just can't use illegal force."

they didn't capitalize "the Force". honestly, what kind of nerd does this guy claim to be??

i've recently come to the realization that being able to quote Star Wars or having it be your favorite movie[s] does not make you a nerd. because i mean, everyone's seen it. in The Princess Diaries [one of the books, at least] Mia watches Star Wars with her boyfriend and neither of them are terribly nerdy...well, he's kinda nerdy but my point is, it doesn't carry as much nerd cred as people seem to think.

Don't blame the OIC, blame the person typing up the news entry.

And watching Star Wars/Trek/etc. doesn't make you a geek. Being able to quote it - effectively - with esoteric lines - is part of the criterion.

yeah, but "Luke, I am your father" and "May the Force be with you" might be quoted totally accurately...it doesn't make you a geek though...however, "I'm a doctor, not a ____!" does, i think.

but they still didn't capitalize "Force"!

I think that this should really go down as racial profiling. The cops are infringing on the traditional Wookiee rite of tearing peoples' arms out of their sockets.
