Postal increase

yet again. to 41¢ minimum for a letter, though heavier letters may actually go down in price. Too bad the "forever stamp" won't be sold in rolls. I needa get a roll of 4¢'s for my roll of 37¢'s.

Meanwhile, anyone remember the comic or whatever, maybe a Far Side, that had a phrase like "neither wind nor big dogs will delay our postal increase"?

I'm gonna hafta buy some 4¢ stamps. I've been tempted at times to figure out what's the largest number of stamps I have in my posession that will make the current postal rate without going over and also fit on the front of the letter without obscuring mailing information.

Reminds me yesterday in physics class I refered to the "And then a miracle occurs..." comic (which is either a New Yorker or a Far Side) and one of my students asked me how I can remember that sort of thing and not the names of Patriots players. When I answered that I don't care about sports, he replied with the illogical statement "it's not sports, it's the Patriots!" as if regionalism trumps the fact that it's a sport.

Wait, regionalism doesn't trump the fact that it's a sport? Admittedly, I'm a sports fan, but I know plenty of people who only follow the local team.

Not for me, no. Sports means I don't care and that trumps everything.

I never complain about the cost of mailing a letter. It's cheap here, compared to elsewhere.

However, I am sick of them raising the rates every 2 year or less. It's a pain in the ass to have to get smaller stamps to make up the difference all the time and if I am too lazy to get the smaller stamps, I stick two regular ones on and waste the money.

You can waste a little less money by ordering the little stamps online. I've been tempted to tape on pennies and quarters before.
