Mountain Goats

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] sammka I now need to scare me up a Mountain Goats CD.

This Year
Woke Up New
No Children (Lego video)
     No Children (Live, Iowa)
     No Children (Uke cover)
Dance Music (sock-puppet video)

I cannot find a non-live version of No Children.

They're categorized by different people as indie folk rock. I'd call them pop/folk w/ a faint touch of Irish - primarily found in the lead singer's voice, but also in chord progressions of some songs.

Anyone have mp3's they wish to share?

ETA: I found a bunch here.

I have tons!

The singer is actually from California but he does sound sort of Irish. Maybe he's ethnically Irish.

He's got the scream sorta thing going on w/ his voice in some that is typical of high emotion Irish music, but there's also a ... texture, a gravely sound to voices in Irish-style music. He doesn't have to *be* Irish in descent, he could just be inspired by it.

Feel like using YouSendIt to get any to me, or gmailing? Or burning a CD. Presuming you're not against that sorta thing.

I have way too many MG songs to use YouSendIt or gmail. I will burn you a CD. They have other CDs out since the last one I bought so maybe you will buy that.

Listen to "Cubs in Five"... it's the only Mountain Goats song I know and it's totally awesome.

Only found a few live recordings of it on YouTube, and they're all pretty lame from the same festival where the sound quality was poor in every song I've heard from it. :-\

Thanks!

i think emusic.com has a lot of their stuff available legit at pretty reasonable prices, and i'm pretty sure the free trial would cover about 1.5 albums worth of tracks.

if you, er, give me some contact info for how to get you largeish files, i might also be able to arrange a copy of the ‘no children’ track from Tallahasse getting sent that way.

zandperl AT gmail DOT com

I'm zandperl pretty much everywhere. Except Yahoo, where I've had to recycle a few dozen accounts b/c of so much spam in the email, and at this point I've decided to never use their email and just use everything else and ignore the email.

Did you just send me three tracks, or was that some random spammer? I don't know your real name, so I don't know if that's you or not. :-P

unless there are extreme conicidences involved, it was probably me.

Yay, no spam! Thanks. Though, getting mp3 spam would be a new technique, and more likely to get my attention than other methods.
