Permanent Accounts

LJ is about to sell Permanent Accounts, from June 21 - June 28, for $150. Should I take the plunge? Some of what LJ's done in the last year or two I'm a little uncomfortable with, like having ad accounts, and the mass suspension of questionable accounts at the pressure of a special interest group, but I understand why they did both. What do y'all think? What're y'all doing? What would Escher do?

they say if you buy in the first 36 hours they'll donate part of the fee to the EFF, which counts for some evil offset (if you want it all to go to the EFF, instead of splitting among the various charities mentioned, i think you have to specify).

last time they had a permanent account sale, i think that they let you transfer/gift paid time you had left to another account. if you buy one, and that's still the policy, and you don't have anybody you want to play secret admirer to, might i suggest gifting it to a community that could use a paid account? i know best_thing_ever appreciates such things.

I sort of want to punish them for their recent actions, but then remember that I'll probably end up giving them more money than $150 if I stay with LJ for a while. But... I'm not sure that I will, after all. Dunno.
