RIP Bate-o-pe Bird

His owner (the woman in the original video I suspect, and the person posting's aunt), stepped on him! :'(

That's so sad. :(

I hadn't seen the original video until now, it's really cute.

Then you might also appreciate Oscar the Singer Parrot, as he was originally titled.

Heh, he's off-key and I bet it's mostly because his owner is off-key. :)

It would be both cool and scary if cats and dogs could do what birds do, even if most of it is just imitation.

He's a Double Yellow Headed Amazon (if I'm recalling what the [livejournal.com profile] parrot_lovers slang DYH stands for correctly), and the videos I've seen of them imply that they prefer to imitate human yelling over human talking, so it could also be the attempts at yelling what he's singing that make it off-key. But it's still so cute. ^_^ Birds can have limited comprehension of what they're saying, much like monkeys and apes and chimps who learn sign language do, but there's no (undisputed) evidence of their understanding grammar or language itself.

Aww, you could tell how happy and loved he was in the video. That's so sad to think about. Rest in peace, little dancing 'tiel.

Sitting or stepping on is the #1 way I hear of cockatiels passing away.

Hmm, I thought malnutrition was the #1 reason, but I know that being sat on or stepped on is at least top five.

Oh, that could definitely be the top reason overall, but sat/stepped on is the top among individual birds belonging to my coworkers or friends or relatives.
