Mac question

Is there any way (easy preferred) to view upload/download speeds on a Mac? On PCs you can just mouseover an icon in the toolbar. On Macs, I haven't found any way at all.

If I recall correctly, in Safari (and probably in Firefox) you can see the speed at which you're downloading a particular file while it's downloading, by watching the download window.

If you want to just monitor the speed at which you're sending/receiving data in general, open Activity Monitor (in Utilities) and click on the "Network" selection; you'll see stats for total data and packets in/out and per second (weighted moving average, I assume).

Yeah, that's what I was looking for, didn't realize it had a Network tab.

I use iStat Pro (it's free) on my dashboard. Among MANY other computer stat stuff is information about your network card. How much downloaded total and speed of upload and download. I like it cause it can show which processes are using the most CPU and stuff like that as well.
