he said Trekker, not Trekkie. i'm not sure how to feel about that. it's usually a certain type of people who call themselves Trekkers rather than Trekkies, but Phil doesn't seem like that certain type of person...

Lots of fans who saw ToS when it was broadcast the first time prefer "Trekker." The usual cutoff is people who saw ToS before TNG aired--so, people who were fans before '89. It's only the ones who militantly insist that "Trekkie" is a slur who you need to avoid.

I dunno, he's a bit full of himself. I suspected this until I saw him speak in person, and now I'm pretty sure of it. I mean, what he's doing is GREAT, but he has a high opinion of himself for doing it. Admitting when he's wrong only boosts his self-impression I think. But again, I'd rather keep him like that than do away with what he does.
