Restoring from an iPod - PC version

Anyone know of a good free piece of PC software to restore music from an iPod? Minimum would be download the files back onto the computer; ideal would also import them into iTunes, with playcount and ratings, put them in a proper "My Music" file system, etc. etc. I'm looking for my dad, as I myself don't use PCs and so can't recommend something.

Edit: And no annoying "this is a free trial, click this button to do the next 4 songs, repeat" crap.

I bet Winamp would do it. That's what I've been using instead of iTunes, and I suspect once Winamp grabs the data and sticks it where you tell it to, then iTunes can grab it from where Winamp sticks it. I don't know about the playlists or ratings or anything like that, though, since I don't really use those features.

never used a PC for anything serious, but i'm pretty sure the playcount, ratings, etc. is contained within the file, so if any program downloaded from iPod to computer, manually importing them back into iTunes should preserve all the info.
