I'm old!

Only in base 10 though. In base 11 I'm only 28. ;)

I didn't realize this was the big 3-0 for you!

[identity profile] zandperl.livejournal.com 2008-01-26 04:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep, I'm old! :-P Not that my students realize - in two of my three classes on the very first day one of MY students went up to the outgoing teacher to ask about adding the class on an overload or something similar.

Happy birthday! You are now officially old enough to say things like "Kids these days. *snort*" ;)

[identity profile] zandperl.livejournal.com 2008-01-26 04:04 pm (UTC)(link)
"When I was your age, I had to walk to classes through the snow uphill both ways!" It's true too, the campus was that hilly. My students only have a hill going back to their cars. Man, we didn't even *have* cars!

it's still two years until you're 20! in hex, anyway.
welcome to the other side of 30. you can borrow my lawn if you need to.

[identity profile] zandperl.livejournal.com 2008-01-26 04:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm barely legal in hex!

Damned kids, get off my lawn!

And what a perfect (number) age it is! Happy trip-around-the-Sun day!

yay happy birfday! and i had no idea how old you were, you don't come across as an oldperson at all. :-P

[identity profile] zandperl.livejournal.com 2008-01-26 07:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll be happy about that once I'm 40 or 50, but till then it gets me irritated at students all the time. Day 1 two students tried talking to the prof of the class before mine, thinking that guy was the prof.

speaking from the exalted perspective of someone who was old 5 years ago...

...happy birthday.

(You want to know when you've really crossed the line? When people a bit older than you are all telling each other "no, really, it just gets better from here." ;) )

As a random mathematical side note...this year my dad and I will form two legs on a Pythagorean triple: 36, 64, [100]. Plus I get to sing Beatles at him. :)

Hey, happy birthday. :)

[identity profile] zandperl.livejournal.com 2008-01-27 04:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks!

Have I met you in person, or did you just find me thru [livejournal.com profile] kadath?

[identity profile] sirroxton.livejournal.com 2008-01-27 07:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Strictly through [livejournal.com profile] kadath, unless we've met at a party and I haven't placed the user name. I don't friend people I don't know, but I made an exception after something you wrote landed you firmly in my Good People(TM) category. Anyways, hey. :)

[identity profile] zandperl.livejournal.com 2008-01-27 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
*waves* Hi! Nope, I don't think I've met you in person then. Pardon me for not particularly friending you back, I've got waaaaaaay too many blags that I read right now and need to clean them out before I start friending new people. See, I do friend people I don't know, and that's led to problems... Too much intarwebs, not enough time.

Pardon me for not particularly friending you back

Heh, only on LiveJournal would a blogger feel compelled to excuse him- or herself for not aggregating a reader. No worries. :)

[identity profile] zandperl.livejournal.com 2008-01-27 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee. That's 'cause LJ calls it "friending", not "aggregating". Hooray for anthropomorphism!
