TSA

Have underwire bras always been on the list of things that might trigger a pat-down search? That just seems so wrong to me.

Edit: and check out the videos of how business men and women go into screening. Business women don't have laptops. Or shoes? I'm confused.

η2: Get more bamboo knitting needles for current project. Metal are allowed, but some TSA agents are jumpy.

Couldn't tell you about underwire bras. Woudln't surprise me, though.

I don't know that bamboo would help. It might make it look as though you were trying to conceal them. A lot depends on the agent you get. *wry smile*

Well, if a metal underwire triggers the metal detector, that's not something most people can remove easily in public to go through again (nor necessarily a cause they might think of) so it makes sense that it would lead to a detector wand search and pat-down search. Luckily, underwires are very rarely made of metal anymore, so this shouldn't come up much, although that also means that when it does come up TSA employees are less likely to realize early on that it's just the bra that's the problem.
