DC to Boston carpool needed this weekend

One of my team members for the MIT Mystery Hunt this weekend was planning to fly from DC to Boston tomorrow, but, ya know, snow. They've already told her her flight is cancelled. She trying to rebook to Thurs, but if it's not possible, she'll be looking for either advice on how to get to Boston in such weather, and/or a carpool.

Anyone doing DC to Boston for the Hunt, Arisia, or other purposes this weekend? If not, what would be your preferred method to travel up the East coast just after a blizzard?

In my opinion, the most reliable is Amtrak. I've been on Amtrak from Philly to north of NYC during a blizzard and it held together pretty well. I do not recommend bus or any other road vehicle except as a last resort. There aren't many ways to make that full trip, but best of luck!

(I am personally taking Amtrak from NYC to BOS on Thursday afternoon. I fully expect the rails to be operational at that time. If they are not, it will likely be due to some other problem. Such is life.)

Best of luck Hunting (and perhaps we'll run into each other!)

Megabus has a DC/Boston route, though booking ASAP is a good idea.

One can also take Boltbus from DC to NYC to BOS, but it's a long trip, and Boltbus already canceled its Wednesday routes on the NE Corridor. Dunno how the route is going to hold up to Thursday. I recommend buying Amtrak ASAP if you want to be as sure as reasonably possible.

Doesn't the hunt start on Friday noon? Could she get a flight on Friday instead? Any other transportation method has slow written all over it. I would do it remotely before I'd bus or train from DC to Boston. Good luck!
