works better to me. It's the lack of a pause between the C/On and the rest of it that makes me doubt it.

I always hit clear before I use my calculator, so that's another possibility. :)

As mentioned in the comment above, I always hit clear and then pause before doing the calculations, so that makes it seem less likely to me. *shrug*

I sometimes have to hit on two or three times if the power cell is out of the light.

But 6 push 4 push * works just fine too.
