I feel old

At the Staples checkout line, my cashier asked the other one if the store music was from the 90's. He asked if the 90's really was all that long ago. Then he remarked that he was born in 1990, and he still liked 80's music so he felt like a child of the 80's. Even though he was born after them.

And I just thought "wow..."

I know! It's like, this year's freshman weren't born yet when the Berlin wall fell...

What old fogies we are! (Adopts crotchety voice): Back in our day, we had stones for breakfast!

i was born then, and i'm a freshman! i was only a few months old, but still.

also, the stones joke is funny...it's a running joke in my family. "back in my day, we didn't have [insert name of new technology here]...we just had rocks!"

My mentor child makes me feel old - she's 17. There are some things about adolescence that never change, but I think, holy cow, she was just being born when I was 13!

I guess it's so hard to believe that so much has changed in that period of time, and so quickly.
