Cosplay help: judgement call

I'm working on part of a cosplay costume for Halloween, and I could use some help deciding how to put something together. I'm going to be doing Jack Frost from Rise of the Guardians. He does not wear shoes, but I will be needing to leave the house in this costume, so I'm making me felted boots. If you're familiar with the movie, when they first try to induct him as a Guardian, there's a really quick flash where two of the elves try to make him put on boots. That's what I'm going for.

These are the boots I am attempting to make.

Most knitted pieces have two sides, the knit or right side, and the purl or wrong side. I have the option to either make this with the knit side showing, or with the purl side showing.

This is the knit side - first image is without a flash, second is with.

I would love to get people's thoughts on two questions.
  1. Do you think the knit or the purl better matches what I'm trying to go for?

  2. In case I want to wear these for other things, do you think the knit or the purl looks better in general?

And any other thoughts you might have, go ahead and let me know too.

I think the purl side looks closer to the boots in the picture, but the knit side probably looks a little better. I'm not sure though XD I guess it might depend on how it looks further away, since I don't think I'd be seeing the boots quite so close up

Have you thought about felting a pair?
