My hands are so dry this week. It's not quite at the painful level yet, but it's getting close. Compounding it all, I - once in a rare while - have a skin allergy to various products. For example, the first topical antibiotic my dermatologist prescribed me. (That went into my appeal to Tufts!) Or the Walmart-brand of moisturizers. It doesn't say Wal-Mart right on them, but some fancy-pants brand that people think is niffy. The vanilla smells really good. And gives me an itchy rash. Only the vanilla flavor does that, as I recall.
But now my hands are sooooo dry that they're almost hurting, so I go to put on a moisturizer - for example, this nice Badger Balm that's some of the most awesome stuff ever. Except when my hands are this dry, they're sensitive to it. It's made out of mostly organic olive oil and beeswax! How can I be allergic to that?! If EMS'd had the "un-balm" I'd get that.
Now, that the Bath & Body Works cucumber scented antibacterial (triclosan = evil!) moisturizer would give my hands a rash isn't surprising on the other hand. Right now I'm going with aloe, and going to see if I can slowly build back up the moisture in my hands to the point where they're not oversensitive to other moisturizers.
