While surfing the web to try and find the appropriate html code for maroon, I stumbled on this list of consequences of colorblindness. (I think it was on the same site as the second hit for "html css color name".) I'm sure if I'd thought about it I would've come up with how it'd be a hinderance in reading various chemical tests (I do teach science, after all), but it never occurred to me that you might not know whether you have a sunburn, or that single blinkie lights are unidentifiable.
Here's an email petition you can sign that'll go to your senator and representative. If you're at a loss for what to say, I said:

The internet is based upon the principle of Net Neutrality: the belief that all data should be treated equally and without preference. This is the same principle upon which our own Nation was established: all are created equal. In non-digital law, we have passed acts further bolstering this belief in the realms of race, class, gender, age, and disability status. It is a shame that the United States government is considering such a law that will take us a step backwards in the realm of the Internet and discriminate based upon the paying ability, and therefore class, of the individual.

biography

Throughout her teenage years at a private Catholic school, she was often teased for her looks, and considered herself to be an ugly duckling. This prompted her to throw herself into her studies, and she went to college, preparing for a competitive career. She spent years of hard work, never a moment off of her efforts striving to be the best. She speaks three languages (English, Ukrainian, and Spanish), and knows a scattering of words in other languages.

Her career is very time demanding, and she has very little time to herself between working at home after hours, and business travel, yet somehow she has managed to write a book. Unfortunately, her fast-paced career has taken a toll on her personal life, and although she has twice been married, the first one was annulled and the second ended in a divorce. However, many analysts believe her career is still rising, as she has recently agreed to a major contract, and is working on another one.

Who am I talking about? )
