I don't often notice loopholes and inconsistencies, or critique things a plot didn't do (because I'm not often attentive enough to notice or remember them), but I'm afraid I've got some beef here.

HS: limits

I've been pondering, what does it take for Joe Schmo to decide he's going to the Emergency Room? The cyst I have right now, if it popped up entirely unanounced on someone who's never had them, it would probably make them break down and go to the hospital, or at a minimum get a doctor's appt ASAP. Me, I had a routine derm appointment Thursday, and I didn't see much reason to try and get one sooner, despite it being not for two weeks after this cyst got this bad. I mean, I think my derm's out of town this past week anyway, and what's the real difference between Tuesday and Thursday? And my general practitioner might not know what's the right way to deal with it, even if I could've gotten in to see her sooner. And at a hospital, I'd just have to wait for hours as people with actual emergencies go in sooner. It'd also be a little wierd if I ended up seeing that resident who bubbled over me last time. :-P

Computer update status

Unfortunately, I think that I only have USB 1 on my Mac, because when I tried copying over around 20 Gigs of it took multiple hours, and T$ says it should only take of order minutes to tens of minutes if it's USB 2. So now he's helping me find a firewire HD so that it won't take me days to do it. *grumble* If he'd only helped me with this in the first place, I wouldn't have to be figuring this out to start. I think I'll be returning the one I got w/in the 14 days back to Staples.

Ducks may be cute, but they ain't so smart

This being breeding season, a female mallard decided a perfect place to lay and hatch her eggs was in a nice grassy park playground. Entirely enclosed by the accompanying school. (Evolution at its finest.) This was turned into a learning lesson as the teachers and children herded the hen and all ten or eleven of the ducklings through the school and out to a nearby pond. Go see it for yourself. So cute!
