Forgot to mention
Jun. 22nd, 2006 12:50 pmI clipped his nails while I was there - he really doesn't like being picked up, and bites (not just nips like Peeper did). He steps up sometimes with encouragement - he hasn't had any behavior training, not that I formally trained Peeper, but she was more-or-less trained casually.
His wings aren't clipped, probably how he escaped. I will want them clipped for me, I don't like him flying around as he did at their house b/c he can hurt himself or get into trouble, plus I have ceiling fans and they don't. I didn't clip them just now b/c I'm under the impression that it can be traumatic for them, and I didn't want to do so yet. I've also heard it can force a bird to bond with you better, so I was planning on doing it when I got him to my place. Or maybe I'll ask for the vet to do it, since it occurs to me I may not be able to tell which feathers should be clipped - in Peeper I always did the same ones as before, and could tell by color.
Oh yeah, I made him a vet appt for Tuesday, since I'll be getting him Monday sometime. Presuming he doesn't starve to death in the meantime. I should make icons of him. :) Presuming he's a him - the vet will hopefully help me figure that out.
