Free crap

Aug. 18th, 2006 03:34 pm
I don't know whether this is an awesome idea, or a horrible one. According to The Stranger, you can go to Focus on the Family's website and order free crap from pamphlets on how to stop homosexuality, to copies of the Narnia DVD - just click on the "Resources" button above the Search box in the left bar. Although there's suggested donations, apparently you don't actually have to pay.

The dilemma I have now is, do I try and bankrupt them, or do I inadvertantly support them by doing so?

soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much. I was bitten all over (along with [livejournal.com profile] jethereal) while camping this past week. They bit him more, but mine get inflamed to the size of quarters. US or Canadian, it doesn't matter, they're damned huge. And soooo itchy. There's one on my right ankle driving me nuts right now. Despite liberal application of OTC cortizone cream - calomine never worked for me. Time to dope myself up with Claritin, sometimes that helps.

Today instead of cleaning or doing errands, I ended up researching whether there is a concensus in the medical community of what causes hidradenitis suppurativa. I did this to settle in my head a debate that continues on the Yahoo group I follow on it. My posting regarding it is below for my reference, or in case you're curious.

Add $18 to the cost of my MacBook, in toll-free calls. Toll-free calls aren't toll free on cellphones, as I knew, they count as part of your minutes that you use up. Well, it turns out that the day I spent 91 minutes on the phone getting my iBook replaced with a MacBook was the last day of my June-July billing cycle, and I used up my 450 included monthly minutes 40 minutes into that call. This's actually a shocker to me, I've never done it before, and only got close once when on a 300 minute plan. However, before I jump off to increase my minutes, I have to remind myself that $23 on one single occasion (there were a couple more calls afterwards on the same day) is much less than upping my plan and always paying $10 more every month. If it happens a few more times though, then I'll consider it.

Wow, an $18 toll-free call. That's a first.
