On average, children in middle-income neighborhoods have approximately 13 books per individual child. In contrast, for low-income children, there is estimated to be 1 book for every 300 children.

Send a Dr. Seuss virtual card for the Cat in the Hat's 50th birthday, and Random House donates a book to children.
And now for something completely different, I've decided to throw away a couple bucks listing a whole bunch of bird toys on my Etsy site. Who knows, maybe someone will actually care and buy one! :-P
