I'm glad this isn't a weekday; I've stayed home from work the next day for less. T$ woke me up saying "I think Gabe is flying around." I'm not sure how many time he had to say that to get a coherent response out of me. The first thing I see when I turn her light on and go to look is her flapping the hell around her cage - the new flight feathers are not always a boon. The next thing I see is red on her wing, and I call out to T$, "she's bleeding, if it's bad we're going to a vet." The large size of the new cage makes it difficult to grab her out, but after I do and towel her I figure out quickly that it's a pinfeather that she broke in her frenzy, and yell to T$ as he comes out of the bathroom to bring Q-tips. Good thing I've some styptic powder handy - yeah I know it's supposed to hurt more than flour or corn starch, but it works and it's what's in front of me. The fuzziness in my brain right now means I'd probably shove her bodily into a jar of flour - not good for either Gabe or our future baking endeavors - so I'll go with what I have. While patting the stuff onto the thingit I explain to T$ that no, we don't have to go to the e-vet, though if I can't get the blood to stop I'll have to find a pair of pliers. And now that the bleeding's stopped I'm sitting awake with her for a little while to make sure her fright's over and that she won't reopen the wound. Everything's going to be ok. She's preening just like it isn't 3:16 in the goddamned am. I think I can go back to sleep now.
My Dad told me they'll get me an iPod for an early Christmas present. (Yes, my Dad's the Jewish one.) They told me to go out and buy the one I want and tell him how much they owe me. But now I'm not sure which one I want. Here's a comparison table. The problem is that one the one hand I like the idea of having ALL my music handy - my current computer has around 10 Gigs, my 2nd Gen iPod has another 20Gigs I need to transfer over to this computer, and if I end up buying more audiobooks on iTunes, each one is easily 200MB and I go through them in a week, two tops. (My 20gig iPod does not hold all the music I used to own before the mass-wipeages of the MacBook lemon, I had around 30 Gigs at the time.) On the other hand, having internet access nearly everywhere I go is so sexy. So what do you think?

Please comment on why you chose the one you did.

There's got to be a way to rip DVDs to mp4's or whatever format will play on them.
Aw man, now I'm wishing I'd set my Halloween party for the 27th instead of Nov 3rd.

I'm freaking out b/c I can't for the life of me remember how to make this origami turtle! It was one of my faves, and now I'm blanking totally!

I learned how to make it from instructions on turtle paper much like those in the above images. And now I can't remember... Anyone either know how and able to describe it - I'm thinking it starts with folding opposite edges to the center - or have directions they can scan in, or able to find them on the net (*cough* [livejournal.com profile] oh_chris *cough*)?

T$ tells me this's old, but it's new to me, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] framefolly.

Y'know, I think this video epitomizes everything that is wrong with the US correction system: not enough choreographed dances to Michael Jackson when he was still black. Meanwhile, I want to know why one of them got to dress like the chick, but the MJ stand-in didn't get to wear the red leather jacket.
