asterrocI've been rubbing at a spot on my neck for a while this morning. It's somewhere between irritated and painful. When I just went to use the bathroom, I remembered to check it out. It's on the left along the hairline - try looking at that spot in the mirror yourself. You can't really. A second hand mirror helps some. I'm pretty sure it's an HS cyst, though there's possibly a blackhead there too, or there could be an ingrown hair. When'd I last get a haircut? I think a few weeks ago, so it's probalby not an ingrown hair, but in my armpits those can trigger flareups. Or maybe just the process of shaving and irritating the skin.
So yeah, a nice little cyst starting to flare up on my neck. High enough that I probably can't cover it with a scarf if I get self conscious, and low enough that it's not covered by my own short hair. That's it, I'm deciding not to be self conscious about it. THANK GOODNESS I have an appointment with my dermatologist Tuesday. I'll bring my killer antibiotics with me this weekend to T$'s, I'll wait till tonight to take one to be sure it's HS, and then point it out to the derm. It probably won't grow any larger than a hi-bounce ball by then, and it really can't get as big as a ping pong ball, so ... aw fuck. I have to teach Monday. I really hope it doesn't get that big. How many sick days do I get a year? Ok, stop thinking like that. If I can teach, I should. I can't let stupid cosmetic shit stop me.
