The latest email scam is someone claiming they've been hired to kill you, and asking for $20,000 to not do so. In case it needs to be said, it's a scam. Don't even reply.

Goddamn: and here I was, ready to offer him another $10k to make it a newsworthy hit. Were I to get that sort of letter, I wouldn't be concerned: I'd be honestly touched that I'd pissed off someone enough to justify their reaching into their R-complex to deal with the inconvenience.

I'm not surprised that there will be many yokels who actually think they're special enough to have a hit out on them. Maybe if someone sent me one saying they paid crazy billy-bob down at the corner store five bucks and a twinkie and a shiny bottle cap to bludgeon me to death with a nailbat, it would be more realistic.

Hrm, I'm not sure my mom's gullible enough to fall for this particular one, but maybe I should make sure. She did, after all, take the rest of an unfinished course (grrrr!) of an old prescription of antibiotics for some self-diagnosed generalized symptoms (arrrgh!). You'd think she might have queried me first since i dunno, I'm her daughter and I have a degree in Microbiology, but no. :P
