Pirates of the Carribean 3

OMFG, that ending's horrible! I would almost have rather he died! Gah! Then at least Liz could've moved on - to Jack or something.
According to Wikipedia,
But I don't know if I like that any better. Jack should've gotten it, he wanted it, and it would've showed his redemption if he could've stuck to ferrying lost souls for eternity. A single incidence of charity, letting Will stab the heart, shows nothing. Though I guess that Will and Liz's being caught in this trap, one day together every ten years, requires them to finally trust each other.
Man, he's going to watch her grow old and die! Some day she won't be there waiting for him, and it won't be b/c she lost faith, it'll be b/c she's dead!
It's just horrible. And just right. They'd been telegraphing Jack killing Davy Jones for so long, it would've been anti-climactic if he had. But... Gah!
End Spoilers. Well, maybe an eentsy bit more. It reminds me of the Kiwi! video. The ending is wonderful and horrible and it just had to happen. I love bad endings. I hate them.

According to Wikipedia,
One scene cut explained that if Calypso had greeted Davy Jones after his ten years of ferrying dead souls, then he would have been freed of his duty: in turn, Will is freed of his captaincy as Elizabeth remains faithful to him ten years later.

Date: 2007-06-04 03:25 pm (UTC)Alternately, maybe the three take turns being the one captaining the ship. Y'know, there's gotta be oodles of slash fiction out there... I mean, what else would there be for Jack and Will to do while Liz was taking her turn as Davy Jones?

Date: 2007-06-05 12:38 am (UTC)Yeah, there's certainly a lot of trouble that Liz and Jack can get into in those ten years before Will comes back (like searching for the Fountain of Youth, and she's still King of the Pirates I believe).
And see my comment above re: slashfiction. Just because Liz waits for Will on that one date doesn't mean she doesn't have another guy on the side. If Will's only got 24 hours with her and their son, do you really think he's going to waste time asking if she's had other lovers? :-P Not that I'm particularly a fan of fan fiction or slash fiction, but Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom are just totally perfect for it. *grin* I bet it's already out there if I actually googled for it. There's probably even a few banned LJ communities full of it.
