#3 - Flashdance (Wikipedia, IMDB)
I wanted to finally watch this 1983 movie b/c I've always enjoyed the music from it. In the end, it's a cute and slightly trite story, and the music scenes weren't as long as I would've liked. If you know nothing about the plot of the movie before watching it you'll probably enjoy it more, so don't read those summaries if you're thinking of watching it. I watched it in my office on the laptop but w/ the stereo plugged in - entirely appropriate as I was more interested in the music than the visuals.

#4 - The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill (Wikipedia, IMDB, Official Site)
Most documentaries are built around a story; in nature documentaries this is usually the story of the animal's life, in human ones it's usually some struggle of an individual. Wild Parrots manages to avoid telling any of multiple possible stories: it doesn't tell the life of the main human subject, Mark Bittner, it doesn't tell the life cycle of the parrots (cherry-headed conures aka red-masked parakeets), it only touches upon the history of the birds in San Francisco, and it doesn't even tell the other obvious story that's revealed in the very last scene of the movie. If you're a parrot lover, I warn you that your non-birdy friends and family probably won't enjoy this film. As a bird freak myself, I enjoyed watching the birds, but the film didn't do anything more for me than going to a pet store for a couple hours would have.
