Popping around after a link from
sclerotic_rings led me to this sci-fi short story. It starts off kinda slow, narrating the tale through letters between a biologist husband in Colombia and his wife back in the US, but the pace picks up rapidly by the end. I won't spoil it too much for you, but the premise is that a cult breaks out around the world of men who feel it is their duty to kill all the women in the world, and the search for what is really going on.
This one is by the same author (Alice B. Sheldon / Raccoona Sheldon / James Tiptree Jr. used pseudonyms liberally, and she's quite a character in her own right) and I will read it next.
