asterrocThere used to be a law in Massachusetts, repealed in 2003, that stated that alcohol couldn't be sold on a Sunday. I actually remember this, as the first time I went to buy wine was in my first year in the state, and they wouldn't sell it to me b/c it was a Sunday. The next time I tried I succeeded.
Along with the original no-Sunday-booze-law was one stating specific holidays on which alcohol couldn't be sold. And if one of those holidays happened to fall on a Sunday, since alcohol sales were already banned that day, why, ban the booze on Monday! Which is what's happing this year.
