Mac Disk Utility
May. 24th, 2006 09:22 amI'm trying to use Disk Utility to make a disk image of the whole computer on my brand spanking new external HD for backup purposes. However, when I click "New Disk Image" or any version of that thru the File Menu, it says (roughly) "Unable to create image of ****. Resource in use." This sounds to me like it won't do an image of the same disk that Disk Utility is hosted on. So how the fuck do I backup my whole computer?

Date: 2006-05-24 08:45 pm (UTC)I'm working on just copying files right now, it's a good second choice. I'd still need to find the OS X(.3) disk to use your first suggestion.
A coworker suggested I use Disk Utility and go to the RAID option and "mirror the disk," but I need to learn more about restoring from a disk mirror thingit, and whether I need to partition the hard drive first.
