Personally, I'm all in favor of English being our national language, so long as this means that native speakers that abuse it are suitably and appropriately punished. I get regular calls at work from Kallikaks who bitch about my company offering a Spanish line with the comment "Waal, they should learn to speak English," and all I want to do is reply "If you take the time to speak it yourself instead of sodomizing it, they might learn from your initiative."
