I have a bug bite

on my right ring toe. Another on my right ankle. And maybe a third on my right calf. I must've missed that part of me when liberally spraying myself with bug spray. Oh well - I saw fireworks! And kids likely to lose a finger or eye or two. One was holding a sparkler while pushing a stroller. Ah, evolution. :-P

Besides bug spray and a dish chair, I also brought my camera - hadn't tried it on fireworks yet. I played with the shutter priority setting to good effect, though my framing wasn't that great this time. I'll post them soon to this blog post.

This is because not everywhere does their 4th of July fireworks on Independence Day itself. My surrounding towns had them from Fri June 30 - Tues July 4, with rain dates during the following week, and one's even as late as Saturday July 15. Yeah, that one throws me for a loop as well.

Weird. They are rigidly launched on the fourth around here (Atlanta).

So far it does not seem like much of a holiday to me. I have two crews working on my house and one working next door. Of course they are all Mexican, so I suspect that September 16 would be a different story

I suspect staggered fireworks happens more in small town areas. If the towns were small enough they'd just pool their resources for one group fireworks, but since they're a little biggger they don't want to compete and instead do them on all different days. Except the town that decided to do them twice.

I'm from NYC though, where the fireworks always took place on Macy's Day. And November brought us the Macy's Day parade.
