Color?

So tomorrow I'm going to first go to a Bank of America and get a loan approval. Then I'm going to a Honda dealer w/ the loan in hand and say, "#1 what is the price of the car (Civic EX); #2 I have a loan in my hand, can you do better?" But the biggest question remains unsettled: what color?

Well red, black and yellow are the most likely to get pulled over, even for minimal violations. Tan colors are the least likely (I swear my tan/beige/whatever the hell it's called focus wagon has a cloaking device to cops). I really liked the green of my old CRV (which is basically a supersized civic hatch with an awd system with a crack problem).
And now that I have looked at the color selection and gotten over my anger of them not having my favorite colors for hondas available, galaxy grey metallic is my favorite of the neutral colors. Tell them to bring back their dark green.

I'm against red for the same reason, and black b/c it's what people who want to look cool but aren't choose. The old car was gray and it was camoflaged in a bad way - I always felt like other cars couldn't see me. But the metallic gray isn't all that gray, so maybe. The blues are pretty good too.

I like the blues a lot as well. I'm still upset that Honda got rid of my favorite green, and want so much for the upgraded brakes.

And now I have looked through the whole thing and from a mechanical standpoint they are charging 4k for rear disc brakes and slightly better wheels and tires. Oh Honda, what have you done?

I wouldn't tell the Honda people that you have a loan until you're finished bartering. Banks give kickbacks to car dealerships, so the dealership might give a little on the price if they think they can get that money back from the bank that they are hoping to set you up with. Of course, the dealership might be able to get you a supersweet interest rate, so it's worth hearing what they have to offer (they gave me 1%, which is awesome).

Honda Civics, yay! The horn in my 2003 Civic is much wimpier than the horn in my 1990 Civic, though. How unfortunate. As for color, I couldn't help but choose red. :)

Best of luck!

Ugh. Stupid stupid stupid that prices are tied to loans. *grr!* My dad got a quote slightly cheaper than web prices from another dealer, but it was at a 9% loan!!! BoA has approved me for a 6.14% loan, so that's my current plan. If the dealer dicks me around, I'll walk out, I've got a list of nearby dealers I'll work my way through if I have to.

How much of your soul did you give them for the 1% rate?! Speaking of which, have you seen Pirates yet? ;)

The red isn't really red red, it's burgandy or something. :-\ And any horn that doesn't honk in right turns is good by me! It wierded me out when Mom's car didn't do that.
