BTW, regarding the router, I had [livejournal.com profile] jethereal bring his laptop (Win XP) over and we couldn't get it online. I decided that was inconclusive - if it did get on solidly that would've proved the MacBook was at fault, however it not getting on could've been due to the router or due to us not knowing how to work XP. I don't have access to another free wireless network except at T$'s and I'm not there this weekend and visiting my parents next weekend, so I couldn't try my laptop elsewhere.

So I went to Staples and bought a new wireless router, with Staples' 14-day no-questions-asked return policy. It yakked during the installation, but installations don't seem to be my strong suit this weekend (had printer problems too), so I tried again and it worked. [livejournal.com profile] jethereal's laptop was gone by this time, but Dory stayed stable for quite a while, so I then instituted MAC address filtering, and then added my Nintendo DS to the network and all seems good now.

My conclusion: the old router (Linksys, 4-5 years old) had its wireless crap out. I may try complaining to them, but I'm sure it's past any warrantees. Out of curiousity, anyone else ever have a router die on them?

Frickin' A! Stupid thing just yakked out on me again. I'm getting really pissed off.
