dream

Oct. 25th, 2005 09:30 am
Long and complex dream, I only remember some of it. We were at some huge fancy dinner, and because my parents were Trustees we had to sit at the table on the stage and two of my friends were on the other side of the table but the third was at a different table. The music started and all four of us had to change into our dance leotards/costumes and go dance, but I had to hold the wand of one of the others while she changed and us two were slower, then I couldn't remember any of the steps. After I asked the two who did well if I'd missed that part during a rehearsal that I missed.

We all went to the huge buffet. My dad guided me to skip the lines and go straight for the turkey with gravy, but I ended up taking two bowls full of lyow-mi-wong (pan fried noodles). Then I realized the person next to me was Bruce, one of my friends in high school. He was a year older than me and in reality he's now a super Jew and married, though I heard this all third hand and haven't been in touch with him since around 1998. We got to talking in a hotel room and he said his wife had left him because their baby had been going to be born deformed and he wanted to abort but she was even more super Jew (though awake now her morals appear Jehova's Witness) than he and not only wouldn't abort but didn't want any medical treatments performed upon the poor child, who was doomed to death without them. He started crying, and I held him as you would a crying friend, and he tried to kiss me, but I told him he couldn't.

Then we were at the hotel pool and we'd locked the crazy wife outside but she had a steel pipe and was trying to bash her way in. She wanted to hurt Bruce, and me too, calling me the bitch that he'd been cheating on her with, which of course I knew wasn't true. She got in somehow, and other people tried to restrain her, and I decided I was done dreaming and woke. I guess I'd woken a few other times during the dream, and had gone back to sleep into the same dream.

And the most bizzare part of it all is that I'm pretty sure I've had this dream before.

Rosa Parks

Rosa Parks passed away yesterday evening at the age of 92. In 1955, in Motgomery Alabama, a bus driver told her she had to give up her front-of-the-bus seat to a white man. She refused and was arrested. After she was fined, she and others formed a group that organized a city-wide boycott by blacks (2/3 of the city's bus users) of the bus company. The boycott lasted over a year, and was organized by the young (26) Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.

Blacks were second class citizens, not allowed to sit in the front of the bus if whites boarded.

What if homosexuals were told to move to the back of the bus when heterosexuals boarded? Gays aren't as important as straights, so they shouldn't be allowed the same rights as straights, such as priority seating in the front of the bus. If we declared that, it wouldn't be acceptable, now would it?

Then why do some people think it's acceptable to say gays are second class citizens when it comes to marriage? Straights are more important, it's ok if they marry, but not for gays!
OMG, I just surfed on over to Songs to Wear Pants to because I was referring [livejournal.com profile] meredithanne42 to Celtic Techno Burrito when I stumbled across his version of TMBG's Experimental Film. Abso-fuckin'-lutely awesome! He's also got a cover of Birdhouse in Your Soul which I'm going to have to check out next.
