The French are Revolting

The students at least. Against a new law that is supposed to help youth unemployment by removing job security for youths. Um, run that one by me again?

ETA: The BBC gives slightly more explanation: apparently the contracts that youths currently work under do not allow employers to fire them at all. Because they're untried youths, employers are reluctant to hire them indefinitely, so they simply do not hire them. The hope is that where youths wouldn't be hired at all before, now they'll be hired temporarily. Still not a good deal, but I now understand the reasoning.

Weddings

Why do grooms rent tuxes for the groomsmen that they'll never see nor have to wear again, while brides make bridesmaids buy disgusting pink frilly things that they'll also never wear again?

Brokeback on Ice

Well, not quite, but it is 6 men ice dressed as cowboys skating to Elvis' "A Little Less Conversation." I really like the choreography as it's defying the traditional thing how the skaters try to create the image that they are not bound to the ice but instead are floating above it - the same illusion is created in traditional ballet. This one though, they use the ice, rolling on it, sliding on their knees, and so on, much like some modern dance uses the floor instead of trying to be free of it.

Ok, enough philosophizing on dance. I needa pack for that wedding.

Packing

I hate packing. Even though it's for a friend's wedding. It helps though, that the high while I'm there will be 79... :)
