firehazard

One thousand and eight people, approximately, bought these firehazards. Yes, it's an M&M's-themed menorah.

Description: The recalled Menorah is an eight-branch candleholder designed to resemble M&M’S® Brand candies. On each end of the Menorah is an M&M’S® Brand character holding a Star of David.

dream

I haven't been remembering my dreams long enough to write them down for a while. I think this one was prompted by seeing a certain student who'd previously been harassing me, instead working with some high school kids yesterday, and they found an injured or stunned young sparrow in the middle of the street and were carrying it in a jacket out of the way of cars.

The dream had lots of little caged sparrows trying to hatch eggs. Some of the parents were smart enough to make little nests - very elaborate houses and pagodas of straw - and some weren't even smart enough to sit on the eggs - either wandering away, or crushing them. I didn't see any baby birds, but I know that some did hatch. Peeper had an egg I think. Someone else had two conures or something that looked more like parakeets.

And I think yesterday I dreamed that I found one of my students' blogs, and it turns out that she'd found mine a year ago. I commented something like, "oh yeah, well this student and I found each other last year too!" b/c I was upset she found me and hadn't told me.
On several of the death-penalty-eligible charges against Moussaoui, there was just one person who voted against the death penalty. This scares me.

my lungs

haven't felt right in a few days. between seasonal pollen allergies and it being so humid/rainy and cleaning otu the lab, I haven't taken a deep breath in nearly a week. I tried, for the first half-day of cleaning, wearing a dust mask, but I felt like that was blockign more air than dust, and the dust wasn't that bad yet, so I haven't been wearing it. but it's never at a level where I should be using my inhaler. man, I'm tired.

eBay

My dad recently sold his old motorcycle on eBay. Yeah, I know, a total shocker! You don't think of your parents on eBay, and certainly not selling motorcycles! It was a kick-start bike though, which he can't handle anymore with those knees.

Today while at B&N w/ [livejournal.com profile] jethereal I decided I needed something to do since I didn't have any grading any more, so I first insisted we stop at a craft store, Michael's or something. I picked up some stuff for jewelry-making, and voila! Not counting startup cost (a couple boxes to hold things, and a pair of good pliers), it cost me around a dollar to make, and it'll cost another buck or two to ship, plus having to go to a post office since I don't trust my local mailbox. There's a fee of 20¢ per item I'm listing, but it's nothing to me, and some commission at the end, again no biggie.

Ooh, I've got three items up now, before even finishing this post! Pink, aqua (blue-green, for the color challenged), and a maroon set. That last one I'll lose money on if it sells for a buck, and I like it so I hope it either doesn't sell, or sells for a bundle. But if it doesn't sell, it's just more clutter around the house! More stuff I didn't have before I started this creativity streak, so selling it is better.
