From [livejournal.com profile] xtina_rss, it's the Gender Genie! Paste in a block of text from your blog, not stuff you've quoted, and see what it says. I had to go back a ways in my entries to get actual paragraphs, but I don't think it cares about paragraphs, just words. More specifically, it seems to look at pronouns.

Words: 867
Female Score: 1341
Male Score: 1482

The Gender Genie thinks the author of this passage is: male!

Its a bucket of crap. I plug in a post I made about a broken sewer pipe and it thinks I am male. I plug in one complaining about transformers and it thinks I am female.

Well, note that it is not making its judgement based upon verbs (change, induce, derive, twist, fix) or nouns (pipe, transformer, voltage, current), but upon prepositions and those other little helper words (and, if, then, when, of, to, the). The topic of your post shouldn't matter, just things like the complexity of your writing style and so on.

I took those two posts because they are kind of similar. Both are written by me, and I am bitching about something. If there was validity in the analysis, I would expect similarity in results.

The ad hoc argument is that your writing is pretty androgynous. I'm not saying I believe that the method is valid, but that's what they could argue.
