Yard Sale?

Are there laws against yard sales anywhere? I keep filling up bags with clothes in good condition, some of them are even fancy, like fancy shirts that my Mom got me that just aren't my style so I *never* wore them. So I'm wondering if I can just plunk down on my yard some weekend morning and sell them for something like $1-5 each.

If there are, my neighborhood is filled with criminals.

Heh. I hadn't seen any in my neighborhood (or others) since moving in three years ago until yesterday, so I wasn't sure - T$ I think planted it in my head a year ago, and it wouldn't go away. I should probably check with my landlord though. (Just so long's I manage to not let on that I'm moving until I sign the new lease.)

I've never heard of them being illegal but sometimes neighborhoods that aren't really neighborhood-y don't have many.

True, it's not the most neighborhoodly neighborhood, but I hadn't noticed yard sales *anywhere* in this city, not just my own. But it occurs to me that rich neighborhoods don't have yard sales, and a lot of the other areas I drive through are significantly closer to upper class than mine. Planned communities w/ homeowner associations might also have rules against it, but there's few of those around.

But it's probably just that I haven't noticed them, not that they weren't there.

I never see yard sales because they're always ass-early on a weekend day. :) Rarely I'll drive by one, but usually they're tucked away in a neighborhood you have to drive down a side street or two in order to reach.

Maybe you could ask your landlord if you could advertise in advance, if your street doesn't get a bunch of traffic. I think that's how it is usually done.

Oh, good point, I don't do mornings either, especially not weekend ones. My street does get a lot of traffic, so I'm not worried about that. I just don't want to piss him off if he doesn't want people on the lawn a lot, or if he was planning to mow that day, or whatever. And I might be able to convince him to loan me a folding table too. :-P

They do around here. The neighborhood across the street from us is $750k to $3M and they have both individual yard sales and group yard sales.
