Donations?

Anyone know, can I donate items to Goodwill, like books, jewelry, backpacks, hubcaps, and so on? I haven't found this info on their webpage, but it could just be that my intartubes-fu is bad. If not, anyone else you recommend? (My primary restriction is that it needs to be a secular group, so the Salvation Army is out.) Or should I just bring stuff to a pawn shop? Or put it on my porch with a FREE sign? I don't want the hassle of trying to yard sale it, despite my earlier good intentions.

I know you can donate alot of stuff to goodwill but I don't know about hubcaps, I've given clothes, tvs, backpacks. What do you mean by intartubes-fu? LOL

"intartubes" is a combination of the Daily Show skit on the internet being made out of tubes, and the self-mocking "teh intarwebs" instead of "the internet". I've seen other people say "internet-fu" to mean "good skills at using the internet, including Google searching.

There aren't any physical Goodwills near me, so I always drop clothes off at a Zoot's cleaners. I don't know if they take items too.

Yeah, not sure about hubcaps, but you can donate all the rest. I'm a frequent Goodwiller and have never had a problem donating all my gadgets or clothing. And I've seen plenty of items there that make me go "wha?"

Oh oh! While on the subject of Goodwill, I must tell you about my awesome experience. I do Civil War re-enacting, and needed to get me some lace-up boots for an upcoming living history. If I were to get them from a sutler (the people who make period clothing) it would cost me at least $100. Found some boots at Goodwill that looked darn-near identical to ones I saw online. Eight bucks.

I <3 a good bahgin.

As I mention in another comment above, I don't think I've ever seen a real Goodwill store. I always just drop off my stuff at a Zoot's cleaners, and I'm not entirely sure if they take items in addition to clothes. I guess I could call one and ask.
