I took a college literature class on the Bible, that's where I read most of what I've read of it. I have to say though that Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John were nearly as boring as Deuteronomy and Numbers. The contradicting accounts of creation amuse me though. :) I'd like to learn more about how they know when different parts of it were written.

They're not contradicting, damnit! They're complementary. The Documentary Hypothesis totally doesn't pass the Occam's Razor test. Meh... you're not going to bait me into this argument.

I will say that Numbers is substantially more interesting than Deuteronomy, in my opinion. I get briefly obsessed with certain sections of Numbers every year in mid-spring, when the passage is read in shul.
