I remember when we sang it we started with one measure of normal Deck the Halls, and then switched into this 7/8 time one to give a total feeling of how it's strange. :) I'm the only one in our little Chorale (other than the director) who had seen this piece before, so it's really easy for me. Remember the 1-2-3-1-2-1-2 feel to the rhythm? When we started this arrangement last year I pointed that out to one of the better singers and that really helped her.
