Move 10: The Day After Tomorrow

asterrocHard on the heels of "An Inconvenient Truth", we watched "The Day After Tomorrow." And what can I say but... Bwahahahahahhahaha! (aka, LOL) Oh man, that was awesome! Take everything in "Inconvenient Truth," put on some psychedelic prism glasses, take some speed, and stand on your head and while running the script through a blender, and you get "Day After." yeah, I know that's not really how it happened, but it's just awesome like that - I think there was time travel involved.
* "Inconvenient" has awesome shots of glaciers from airplanes capping off the end of the movie; "Day After" has CG glaciers in the opening sequence.
* "Inconvenient" talks about an Antarctic ice sheet breaking off due to the decreased albedo from pools of water; "Day After" has a crack in the middle of a research station and a researcher fall down the hole after a daring jump across the crack to save some easily replaceable ice core samples.
* "Inconvenient" points out that an inflow of fresh water off of North America shut off the North Atlantic current during the last ice age, causing a prolonging of the ice in Europe; "Day After" has this fresh water shut off the entire Atlantic current causing an instant deep freeze throughout the entire Northern Hemisphere.
* "Inconvenient" and its bonus materials discuss Katrina and the increase in hurricanes and typhoons; "Day After" has three super hurricanes form over North America with the eye sucking down cold air from the upper troposphere dropping to below -150ºF.
* "Inconvenient" has a badly CG'd polar bear swimming through arctic water without ice; "Day After" has badly CD'd wolves scampering over a frozen Midtown.
Oh man, next time you want a good laugh, watch those two back-to-back, in that exact order. Now I want to come up with the equivalent for "The Core" and other similar bad SF movies.
