Made by the Aussies, it's a greenhouse gas calculator - it determines how much CO_2 you produce in a year (3 tonnes per year per person is the sustainable amount, 24 is the average Aussie), and therefore when you should kill yourself so you don't use more than your fair share.

I produce 15.0 tonnes of CO_2 per year (according to their calculator), and therefore I should die at age 15.4. At least I'm better than average! :-P

I apparently spend too much money. But telecommuting and recycling are going to let me live to 66.

I think my commuting's what did me in, though my spending habits helped mitigate it somewhat. Did you try moving the slider to see the tiniest and grossest pigs you could get? It's so cute!

I didn't know whether the money spending included rent and necessary things, or "extras." I assumed it included everything, and I should have died by age 11 or so. Heh. That was awesome they included the "you should die by..." part.

It said it did include rent. It was fine print. :-P

Poo, I need to brush up on my skimming-for-retention skills.

It's interesting that they skipped procreation as a source, but since Australia's birthrate is less than what they think is optimum, that's to be expected.

Given that walking/bicycling has a much higher greenhouse load than "taxi", I have doubts about this test.

If you read the methodology, it's b/c they're also accounting for money expenditures. If you spend money on a taxi, they're figuring that you have less money to spend on even worse things, while if you save money by walking or biking that means you can spend the money or something horrible. That seems like a poor assumption to me, but everything's gotta start with some assumptions.
