Great, just two days after I order a small Wacom tablet from NewEgg.com, Woot.com offers a bigger one for a third the price. The one I ordered from NewEgg was a Wacom 5.8"x3.7", $109.99, $7.05 shipping one way, 15% restocking fee, so returning it would likely cost me $30.60. Woot is offering a DigiPro 8"x6", $32.99, $5 shipping one way, so $37.99 total.

One thought I had was to get both, test them out, and return the worse. Another was to simply return the Wacom/NewEgg when it arrives and suck up the cost difference. I did order the DigiPro/Woot, and right now I'm leaning towards playing with them both and gifting the worse to a friend for whom I'd been toying with getting a tablet for a while.

You haven't taken delivery? Or opened the box? Call or email NewEgg and explain, and they might waive the restocking fee, though you will probably have to eat shipping each way.

Or just put the brand new unopened Wacom on ebay the minute you get it.

I'm not a fan of eBay. I'd much rather gift the lesser of the tablets to this LJ-less good friend of mine for whom I rarely buy gifts.

Has newegg even shipped it? If they haven't you can usually still cancel the order without paying a dime. Their customer service policy is great, but finding people to deal with can be a hassle (I was in on the paypal $50 for black monday... what a mess and they almost lost me as customer because of it- entries here and here)

Good luck!

They had, and it's in a warehouse a few miles from here awaiting delivery tomorrow.

Don't get me stated on customer service nightmares.

Oh man. I was hoping they hadn't shipped it yet. Most times if I order late enough on Friday it doesn't ship until Monday.

... Almost the exact same thing happened to me in January, except the airline tickets were refunded without an issue and my lost bag was located within 2 days and delivered to my door (it had ~$500 of unwrapped brand new gifts in it!) I was so relieved it came back intact with everything in it.

I was flying on Southwest airlines, United does suck, I had to fly them for business trips and I'm NOT impressed by them.

What was the outcome of the letter you sent?

They gave me a partial refund on T$'s ticket.

If you do try out both let me know how the digipro is. I normally only go for wacom for tablets. There stuff has worked for me so far so I haven't felt like ever trying anything else. If you like the digipro let me know.

Honestly with those two choices I would stick with the wacom (but that is from my biased opinion that I already mentioned!)

Yeah, going with both. I know and trust the name wacom by reputation (though I've never used one myself), but the digipro one was approximately twice the area.
