I'm reposting this request for advice b/c I originally posted it on Friday evening, a bad time apparently, and nobody replied, while I'm pretty sure some of my CTY friends here would have advice for me if they'd seen it. So:

In short, I'm applying for Dean at LAN, SHD, and AMH, and I want advice on who to ask for recommendations, and whether to put union stuff in my resume.

First of all, you almost certainly need recommendations, since it is a new position (and particularly because it is an admin position rather than instructional). One of the CTY deans would be a good choice if you can get in touch with me. Additionally, the Astrocamp advisor would be a good choice as well.

I feel like getting a letter from your union president should help and not hurt, as it shows your organizational and administrative experience. However, CTY's hiring practices are sometimes hard to fathom. As an alternative, it might be a good idea to get a letter from your current boss, as I think you should have something reflecting your *current* qualifications.

I think where I'm at in my ruminations is (1) current boss, (2) Astrocamp and undergrad advisor, and I'm debating whether to add (3) former CTY dean MB [as he's the only one for whom I have current contact info], and/or (4) union president. Do you think 4 letters is overdoing it?
