I don't know how many times I checked and rechecked my packing list, I *had* put Pills on the list, and I swear I picked them up at least three times, but they still did NOT make it into my bag somehow. Since I've been on the pill for years at this point, I always know when my period's coming, so I don't really carry pads/tampons with me when not expecting my period. I also hadn't packed my menstrual cup (used for two periods now) for the same reason. After triple checking the first night I was there (I take my pill at night), I confirmed that I didn't have it, and two days later (out of 3 at the Hunt) my period started (usually 3 days from the stop of a month's pills to when my period starts). I was able to find exactly two tampons in my bag (and lots of pantiliners), which got me back to campus, where it turns out that the bathroom on the floor above ours not only actually had toilet paper, but also had stacks of tampons atop the machine, so I didn't even have to pay. Yay.

Surprisingly (to me) this's the first time since starting the Pill that I've missed enough days in a row (3) to need to restart a pack (and worry about potential fertility). Also on the upside, I'd heard stories on [livejournal.com profile] menstrual_cups about people who really hated going back to pads or tampons after using the cups that I was worried I'd be like that, but maybe b/c I've only been on the cup for two months it wasn't a big deal at all.

A bit off topic, but I really love the fact that you've created a "tmi" tag for your blog.

Hm, had I not used one before? I know I've had other posts - I posted about menstrual cups a while ago, and that should be on that tag too.

Eh, wasn't TMI at all, imho. But then again I have a stronger stomach than most. I just didn't think you were especially graphic or anything.

As long as menstrual fluid is not left in/on the toilet, it doesn't gross me out too much. :)

Many people prefer to pretend that menstruation doesn't happen. In that respect, any talk of it at all is too much information.

Hm, I think that's unfair delusion to hold.

Because of social norms to not talk about menstruation, I tend to cut-tag such entries. But b/c I agree with you and also b/c of varying definitions of sex/gender I do not lock the posts to women only.

It's kinda like my policy on talking about my skin condition: B/c most people don't want to read about pain and pus, I cut-tag them, but b/c I want to increase awareness of the condition I do not lock them.

It is polite and considerate of you to lj-cut, it's true.

I just think it is unfortunate that social norms would qualify not lj-cutting as being inconsiderate. :(
