In Boulder, places I've been and highly recommend:
go to NCAR go to the Dushanbe Teahouse
Also: Red Rocks (outside of Boulder, not sure exactly where).
Sort of between Denver and Boulder is a place called Prospect New Town which has an interesting mix of architectural styles and very unusual street names (1000 Year Party, Incorrible Drive, etc.).
In Denver:
- the zoo is fun - they have a lorikeet exhibit! You can buy a little cup of nectar and be swarmed!! - walking or biking along Cherry Creek or the Platte is quite nice - they intersect right in front of a really great REI, too, right on the edge of the downtown. There's a lot of nice public park space between the Platte and Denver; some parts of it have sculpture, but it's in general nicely landscaped - I like the Denver Art Museum. The original building has some really nice collections - they have a HUGE collection of artifacts and art from pre-Columbian cultures. I took pictures of some tiny baskets - and a shawl/blanket - made with feathers. The new building is interesting in its own special ways, and has some great modern art.
If you don't have access to a car, there is regular bus service between Boulder and Denver - it's about a 45-60 minute trip.
I'll be with T$'s family and they'll have access to a car or two. The bigger issue is going to be convincing people where we should go as a group, b/c I like the fact that his family likes me and I don't want to go running off on my own and have them change their minds. I expect they'll have some ideas of good places to go too though, so I don't think I'll be entirely bored if they don't take any of my (or my LJ friends') suggestions.
